A NEW STANDARD
IN GAMING

Threat Interactive is a new indie game studio striving for a new standard on 9th generation gaming. Our first mission is to get people aware of the massive problems in modern graphics so that both AAA studios & new studios can deliver better visuals and performance to gamers.

Anti-Aliasing
is Broken
The entire industry is implementing anti-aliasing wrong. FXAA is blurry because developers use the wrong configuration. TAA has been pushed beyond its original conservative design, smearing and distorting visuals while forcing aggressive upscaling.
MSAA Should Be
Everywhere
MSAA should be in every deferred renderer. Modern shaders and filtered MIP maps can resolve specular aliasing independently of blurry temporal methods. A desktop 3060 can handle intensive scenes at 1080p with MSAA using only 55% GPU.
Native Rendering
Matters
The push toward upscaling (DLSS, FSR) is a band-aid for broken pipelines. Native rendering with proper AA produces objectively cleaner images. We aim to prove that performance and visual clarity are not mutually exclusive.

Fake Realism
in Modern Games
Most modern UE games are objectively ugly, and scientific data proves it. Games from almost a decade ago look more realistic, and the richness they provide has very little to do with baked lighting or nostalgia.
BRDFs: The Missing
Piece
Modern engines still use a 264-year-old Lambert diffuse model. Better BRDFs like the one in The Callisto Protocol cost virtually nothing on modern hardware but produce dramatically more realistic light interactions on materials.
Better Graphics,
Less Cost
Incompetent lighting models create mental fatigue in players. Accurate BRDFs simulate realistic diffuse and specular interactions, and custom engine modifications like Callisto's prove that realism and performance can coexist.

Graphics Have
Regressed
The regression in graphics is real. Older engines like Fox Engine beat most modern titles through efficient lighting, color management, developer-driven optimizations like asset packing, and proper topology.
Neglected
Techniques
Bent normals, texture packing for performance, Forward+ rendering, proper FXAA configuration: these are the top neglected areas in modern graphics. The industry needs to be refreshed on these proven technologies.
Pipeline Draws
Exposed
By analyzing GPU pipeline draws and actions in games like The Callisto Protocol, we can identify where optimization fails: redundant lighting passes, shadow rendering issues, and unnecessary compute overhead that tanks performance.

FIXING MODERN
GRAPHICS

Help us fix gaming

Our long term goal is to independently raise $900K to pay a team of graphic/engine programmers to modify UE5's source code. We are creating documentary content about specific problems in modern graphics that we aim to correct, getting people aware of the massive issues so that both AAA studios and new studios like ours can deliver better visuals and performance to the gamers that make our careers possible.

Modified
UE5 Fork
We paused game production because we found too many issues in modern graphics. We decided we couldn't make a game until improvements were made, and those improvements wouldn't happen without consumer awareness.
$900K to Fix
the Engine
Our long-term funding goal is $900K to hire dedicated graphics and engine programmers. Fully independent: no publishers, no investors dictating direction. The modified UE5 fork will be built for real-world game scenarios.

Spread
the Word
There was no voice saying the things that needed to be said. We didn't want to be that voice, but if we were going to ever release an amazing game, it had to be done. Share our content to amplify the message.
Watch the
Documentaries
Our video series exposes the regression in graphics with real GPU data, pipeline analysis, and side-by-side comparisons. Each video builds market value for better optimized graphics by showing consumers what's actually possible.
